He provides us with descriptions of the earliest uses of caves as shelters and burial sites, and then later on as hideouts for Civil War soldiers and moonshine stills. He brings us into the present day uses for caves such as areas for wildlife conservation, money-making mines, and show caves.
Also included in this book is an overview of cave resources in the twelve regions of Missouri that have recorded caves. He has also included many photographs of Missouri's beautiful underground features as well as some standout characters in Missouri Spelean history.
